Loving lost love...
How horrible would it be to think that your love life was all under control only to find out that your wife is in love with a dead guy? This is what happened to Gariel in the story "The Dead". He was thinking his life was all in order and that he and his wife were a grand couple until he finds out she is really smitten with Michael in her heart. He is deceased, but emotionally she has never forgotten him. This is not too unusual. Things always seem more romantic when you can't have the person you idolize as the best. Don't fret if your lover imagines a better life with someone they can't be with. We live in what-ifs, and as long as they are with you and you are both happy in the relationship, take it easy and love until you get it right.

Down By The Salley Gardens
Do we always have to be so serious while in relationships? The poem "Down By The Salley Gardens" is a great example of how love and life can turn sour when we take things to litterally. This guy finds his true love and she tells him to chill out and take things easy, but he won't listen and ends up in tears. I'm not sure if she leaves him or she dies, but I'm thinking that she took off because he was stressing her out. Life shouldn't be so difficult. Let's all learn to calm down a little.

Through the eyes of innocence....
Great Expectations was a great book to read. We all go into life as children with all these views and ideas on how we want life to be. We view everyone through the lens of judgement and usually come to a screeching halt when we realize these judgements and expectations are all wrong. Life is not what it seems to be when we grow up. Too bad we can't live in a haze all of our lives. Things often seem more heavenly and perfect through the eyes of a child. The ideas of what life should be like are painted with rose glasses. It is a good idea at one point or another in our adult lives to step back and regain some of the fun and innocence of childhood. We should learn to see people and the world in a better light instead of the pessimistic, dreary way many adults see the future!

Love
What is it with women always having to have a guy say "I love you" all the time to believe it. In this poem "Say Over Again" the chick is obsessed with her man constantly telling her how much she is loved. This would be sweet, except that it often turns into an obsession. This plays along with the deep insecurities in relationships. It is hard to believe that someone loves you if you have never experienced true unconditional love before in life. True love is hard to find and it's hard not to take for granted when you have it! Let's just always remember that a guy (or girl) can tell you they love you till the sun goes down, but if they don't show it with selflessness it is worthless. Words mean nothing without actions to back them up!

Judgement
Yippee for Frankenstein! What a fantastic read, and at a perfect time right around Halloween!!! Spookey right?! Well, I will say that I was much more impressed with the book than any of the movies I have ever encountered. It wasn't really spookey at all. It was actually a really sad story about acceptance and wanting to be loved by our maker. Can the monster ever be good enough just how he is created. I am a Christian and I believe that this is what is most amazing about my God. He loves me and created me in His own image. Even if I am ugly, fat, thin, or disfigured like Victor's beast... He loves me! That's amazing. Victor created this monster in what he thought would be the discovery of a lifetime. How sad that he rejected him so harshly! Glad my Creator and Father will never leave me alone to roam this world lonely and desolate! This is a great parental lesson as well. Parents, love you children however they are! You wanted them. You went to all the "work" to make them, so accept them and never let them feel alone in this life! Your acceptance means everything to them! Love them.... Smart or a little slow, hyper or calm, loud or shy... Let them be who they are without judgement! It's worth it all!

Don't Kill Birds
Wow, i just read the Rime of the Ancient Mariner and boy was that a great poem. This old mariner goes on this crazy boat ride and runs into a lot of trouble while out to sea. Along comes this beautiful Albatross and gives them such good luck that their troubles disappear and it leads them to safety. The mariner, for whatever reason, kills the bird. Trouble surrounds them to the point where all the sailors die except him. Then all these weird supernatural things start to happen and I'm not sure if he is hallucinating or these things are real, but they are freaky!!! Long story short.... He ends up being rescued and attributes all this chaos to killing the innocent bird. People, don't kill animals for no reason! Your life will turn out to be a mess!

This is my first blog for this class so I'll try to do my best with it! I am very intrigued by both Blake and Wordsworth. I find Blake to be extremely depressed and bound to speak out against injustice! I know that is a good thing, I just wish I could just sit and pick his mind and ask him why he is so upset. I wish I could help him see the goodness of religion and not just the chains that a bad religion can use to bind you. What a sad life to go through without experiencing how great a religious experience can be. With all the injustice he experienced in life I truly hope he found peace and happiness somewhere while he was here on earth. Life always goes by too quickly!
Wordsworth's poem, Michael, is not just an old work with out meaning. This happens in so many families today. Parents raise their kids right, the best way they know how. They do a really good job at teaching values and loving their kids. As soon as the child leaves home and goes out on their own they mess up.....LOTS! This leaves a parent wondering what they did wrong and it can lead to so much hurt in their hearts. Why wouldn't they want to make their parents proud? I guess this goes to show that people are gonna mess up and make mistakes. No matter how hard you try to teach your kid right from wrong, experience is the best teacher and you are not to blame! Parents: Do your best! Kids: Try to live life to make your parents proud, they won't be here forever!
